Tripping in Dallas

Dollyanna @ DALLAS, TX
Friday, February 6 - Wednesday, February 10, 2015

Between sessions at a conference I was attending, I snuck away to some Dallas tourist sites. Didn't find any fellow Flips, but I did find...

The original Neiman Marcus department store completed in 1918

A gorgeous, gothic courthouse originally built in 1892,
now known as the Old Red Musuem of Dallas County
(sorry for the shameless selfie!)

A beautiful old theater originally built as a vaudeville venue in 1921

The old Dallas Municipal Building (built 1913) where assassin Lee Harvey Oswald met his end

The former Texas School Book Depository (built in 1901) from where Lee Harvey Oswald shot President John F. Kennedy, now home to the Sixth Floor Museum dedicated to the events before, during, and after that fateful day on Friday, November 22, 1963

The "Grassy Knoll" where some murder witnesses (and some conspiracy theorists) believe the assassin's shots were fired. (The signage in the picture was, I suspect, added after the murder) The "truth" is revealed in a scene with the world's most inept male model, Derek Zoolander in Zoolander (2001). For a refresher, visit the YouTube clip here. Needless to say, that was not part of the Sixth Floor Museum exhibit.

Some friendly native Texans!

And last but not least, THIS!
(You know what they say, it's all fun and games until someone loses one of these.)

Thanks for a fun week, Dallas! Maybe now I'll actually look up an episode of Dallas....
